References

[OLD] - Things that first appeared in the classic series (or the film).

The following are also covered:
[NEW] - Things that first appeared in the new series.
[1ST] - Things which appear for the first time in this episode.

Previously on Doctor Who...

Weeping Angel
  • [NEW] Recurring race in the new series. First appeared in "Blink(Doctor Who (2005) series 3). Many of the powers and behaviours that appear in this episode are from "Time of the Angels"/"Flesh and Stone" (Doctor Who (2005) series 5).

The TARDIS
  • [OLD] The Doctor's time and space travel vehicle.  It stands for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space.  Like a lot of the Doctor's race's technology, it is "bigger on the inside."  The Doctor stole her second-hand TARDIS when fleeing her homeworld. It is an older model ("Type 40") and unreliable, often ending up in the wrong location, and being unable to blend into its environment (a feature TARDISes should have).

The Doctor
  • [OLD] The main character of Doctor Who, classic series and new. Born on Gallifrey,  she is a Time Lord. Due to Time Lords' ability to regenerate this is the "Thirteen Doctor," although she's recently discovered she has a secret past.

Psychic Paper
  • [NEW] An item usually used by the Doctor to create false identification for the Doctor.  It first appeared in "The End of the World" (Doctor Who (2005) series 1).

Lupari Spaceship
  • [NEW] The Lupari, a species is pair-bounded to humans that first appeared in  Doctor Who: Flux Chapter 1 ("The Halloween Apocalypse" (Doctor Who (2005) series 13). Because they were coming to Earth to save humans from the Flux, they developed spacecraft that were resistant to it.

The Flux
  • [NEW] A universe destroying cloud that first appeared in  Doctor Who: Flux Chapter 1 ("The Halloween Apocalypse" (Doctor Who (2005) series 13.

Quantum Extraction
  • [1ST] First mention of this extraction type.

Gallifreyan telepathy
  • [OLD]  The Doctor has previously shown limited telepathy before including the ability to pass images between versions of himself ("The Three Doctors" (Doctor Who (1963) season 10) and "The Five Doctors" (Doctor Who (1963) 25 Anniversary Special) and via touching humans like this ("The Girl in the Fireplace" (Doctor Who (2004) series 2).  The First Doctor mentioned it to Ian Chesterton in "The Sensorites" (Doctor Who (1963) season 1when his granddaughter, Susan, displayed greater than expected abilities:
Ha-ha, telepathy! You know telepathy isn't only a prerequisite of the Sensorites. I know sometimes what you're thinking! Hm-hm! Hm-hm!

The Division
  • [NEW] A secret organisation among the Time Lords which erased the Doctor's memory and gave her a new set of regenerations. They were first seen in "The Timeless Children" (Doctor Who (2005) series 12)

Azure
  • [NEW] One of the Ravengers are and a sister to Swarm. She is an aliens who know the Doctor, but was unknown to the Doctor and first appeared in  Doctor Who: Flux Chapter 1 ("The Halloween Apocalypse" (Doctor Who (2005) series 13).

Passenger form

Reverse the Polarity of the Neutron Flow
  • [OLD] An express used by the Third Doctor, and subsequently.

Sonic Screwdriver
  • [OLD] The Doctor's favourite tool: the sonic screwdriver. First shown to be used by the Second Doctor in "Fury of the Deep" (Doctor Who (1963) season 5), it has been used almost constantly since. While it has been destroyed a couple of times and replaced it has been implied to be the same device rebuilt ("Day of the Doctor" (Doctor Who (2015) 50th Anniversary Special). Although Doctor has suggested he initially built it ("The Doctor Dances (Doctor Who (2015) series 1) & "A Christmas Carol"  (Doctor Who (2015) Christmas Special 2010), this is the first time we've seen her build one.  It's been said to be self-repairing "A Christmas Carol"  (Doctor Who (2015) Christmas Special 2010) and on at least one occasion the repaired it for him ("The Eleventh Hour"  (Doctor Who (2015) series 5)). She built her current version in "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" (Doctor Who (2015) series 11).
