References

[OLD] - Things that first appeared in the classic series (or the film).

The following are also covered:
[NEW] - Things that first appeared in the new series.
[1ST] - Things appearing for the first time in the episode.

Previously on Doctor Who...

The Doctor
  • [OLD] The main character of Doctor Who, classic series and new. Born on Gallifrey,  she is a Time Lord. Due to Time Lords' ability to regenerate this is the "Thirteen Doctor."

The TARDIS
  • [OLD] The Doctor's time and space travel vehicle.  It stands for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space.  Like a lot of the Doctor's race's technology, it is "bigger on the inside."  The Doctor stole her second-hand TARDIS when fleeing her homeworld. It is an older model ("Type 40") and unreliable, often ending up in the wrong location, and being unable to blend into its environment (a feature TARDISes should have).

Sonic Screwdriver
  • [OLD] The Doctor's favourite tool: the sonic screwdriver. First shown to be used by the Second Doctor in "Fury of the Deep" (Doctor Who (1963) season 5), it has been used almost constantly since. She built her current version in "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" (Doctor Who (2015) series 11). It can usually read everything.

This episode...
Zellin and Rakaya
  • [1ST] First appearance of these immortals posing as gods.

TARDIS's Telepathic Circuits
  • [NEW] Although some telepathic features of the TARDIS, such as the translation circuit, have been a part of the series since the beginning (if not explicitly stated), the The Doctor used the telepathic interface was so Clara could guide the TARDIS to Trenzalore in "The Name of the Doctor" (Doctor Who (2005) series 7). The telepathic circuits also appeared in the current Doctor's episodes: "Demons of the Punjab" and "The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos" (Doctor Who (2005) series 11)

The Eternals
  • [OLD] Immortals posing as gods who play games with mortals, including a boat race through space ("Enlightenment" (Doctor Who (1963) season 20)).

The Guardians (of Time)
  • [OLD] Immortals posing as gods, two of which, the Black Guardian and the White Guardian tried to gain access to The Key to Time (with Guardians appearing in the first and last story of that arc/season "The Ribos Operation" and "The Armageddon Factor" (Doctor Who (1963) season 16) and also appear in The Black Guardian trilogy the "Mawdryn Undead", "Terminus" and "Enlightenment" (Doctor Who (1963) season 20)). The Eternals called them the Enlighteners.

The (Celetial) Toymaker
  • [OLD] Immortals posing as a god, which the Doctor met in "The Celestal Toymaker" (Doctor Who (1963) season 3)
