Ongoing References:

  • [TW]  Weavel -  An alien race that has slipped through the rift and infest Cardiff.

  • [NEW]  Torchwood - An organisation created by Queen Victoria after the events of "Tooth and Claw" (Doctor Who series 2)..  Torchwood-1 (London) was destroyed by the events of "Army of Ghosts"/"Doomsday" (Doctor Who series 2).  This is Torchwood-3 (Cardiff), who first appeared in "Everything Changes(the first episode of Torchwood.)

  • [NEW]  Captain Jack HarknessFormer Time Agent from the 51st century, con-man and companion to the Tenth Doctor.  Head of Torchwood-3.  He was made immortal accidentally by the Bad Wolf entity (Rose Tyler) in the Doctor Who episode "The Parting of the Ways."

From this episode:

  • [NEW]  Cardiff Mayor - A reference to "Boomtown" (Doctor Who - Series 1).  The article has been on the door since "Everything Changes(the first episode of Torchwood.)

  • [OLD]  UNIT - An military organisation which first appeared in "Invasion" (Second Doctor story.)

  • [NEW]  The Doctor - The Doctor, Martha and Captain Jack traveled together in "Utopia," "The Sound of Drums," and "Last of the Time Lords" (Doctor Who - Series 4).  There are a few references to these events in the episode.  These events occurred between "End of Days(Torchwood - Series 1) and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" (Torchwood - Series 2) .

  • [1ST]  Unknown device - first appearance.

  • [1ST]   Mayfly & Reset - First appearance of this creature and the drug made from it.

    • [NEW]  Politician - Jack (and Martha) had a problem with The Master, disguised as Harold Saxon, Prime Minister of Britain in "The Sound of Drums," and "Last of the Time Lords" (Doctor Who - Series 4).

    • [TW]  Pool tournament - Suggested by Tosh in "Meat."

    • [TW]  Temporal radiation -  Probably linked to artron energy, which has been seen in high levels in time travelers, especially in the Doctor's companions.  In "Invasion of the Bane" (The Sarah Jane Adventures) the Wormwood noted that Sarah Jane had traveled through the time vortex because of her artron energy signature (She was last shown to have time traveled in "The Five Doctors" 25 years earlier.)  Rose's artron energy revived the dalek in "Dalek" (Doctor Who Series 1) and Mickey's opened the Genesis Ark in "Doomsday" (Doctor Who Series 1).  Although this is the first time it's been show to improve a human's immune system, Coordinator Engin stated that the Fourth Doctor must have a lot of stored artron energy to survive the near fatal attacks in the matrix in "The Deadly Assassin" (Doctor Who Season 14).  The Fifth Doctor claimed there was a connection between artron energy and the TARDIS ("Four to Doomsday" (Doctor Who - Season 19)).

    • [NEW]   Boyfriend - The boyfriend who saved her life was probably Thomas Milligan, who in was killed an alternate timeline ("Last of the Time Lords" (Doctor Who - Series 4)).  Although they had never met in the real timeline, she rang him to make sure he was alive.

"Adam" < Torchwood's Timeline > "Dead Man Walking" (Part 2)"Last of the Time Lords" < Martha's Timeline > "Dead Man Walking" (Part 2)

The Time Crash blog was created to help New Who fans understand Classic Who references - and to know if something isn't a reference but a new idea.  If there's a reference I missed or a subject that you feel needs more explaining, please comment.
