  • [NEW]  Torchwood - An organisation created by Queen Victoria after the events of "Tooth and Claw" (Doctor Who 02-02).  Torchwood-1 (London) was destroyed by the events of "Army of Ghosts"/"Doomsday" (Doctor Who Series 2 episodes 12 & 13).  This is Torchwood-3 (Cardiff).

  • [NEW]  Captain Jack Harkness - Former Time Agent, con-man and companion to the Tenth Doctor.  Head of Torchwood-3.  He was made immortal accidentally by the Bad Wolf entity (Rose Tyler) in "The Parting of the Ways" (Doctor Who Series 1 episode 13).

  • [NEW] The Cardiff Rift - A spacial temporal rift, first mentioned in the new Who episode "The Unquiet Dead(Doctor Who Series 1 episode 3).  It was later featured in the new Who episode "Boomtown" (Doctor Who Series 1 episode 11).  It is the reason for many of the strange events in Cardiff.

  • [NEW]  Vortex manipulator - Standard issue wrist device for Time Agents.  It is used the mainly for time travel and transportation (functions the Doctor disabled on Jack's device), but also for projecting holograms, detecting life signs, controlling electronic devices and listening to radio.  It first appeared in "The Empty Child" (Doctor Who Series 1 episode 9).

From this episode:

Who hasn't?

The Time Crash blog was created to help New Who fans understand Classic Who references - and to know if something isn't a reference but a new idea.  If there's a reference I missed or a subject that you feel needs more explaining, please comment.
