Ongoing References...

The TARDIS
  • [OLD] The Doctor's time and space travel vehicle.  It stands for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space.  Like a lot of the Doctor's race's technology, it is "bigger on the inside."  The Doctor stole her second-hand TARDIS when fleeing her homeworld.  It is an older model ("Type 40") and unreliable, often ending up in the wrong location, and being unable to blend into its environment (a feature TARDISes should have).

The Doctor
  • [OLD] The main character of Doctor Who, classic series and new. This is the Thirteen Doctor.

Sonic
  • [OLD] The Doctor's favourite tool: the sonic screwdriver. First shown to be used by the Second Doctor in "Fury of the Deep" (Doctor Who (1963) season 5), it has been used almost constantly since. While it has been destroyed a couple of times and replaced it has been implied to be the same device rebuilt ("Day of the Doctor" (Doctor Who (2015) 50th Anniversary Special). Although Doctor has suggested he initially built it ("The Doctor Dances (Doctor Who (2015) series 1) & "A Christmas Carol"  (Doctor Who (2015) Christmas Special 2010), this is the first time we've seen her build one.  It's been said to be self-repairing "A Christmas Carol"  (Doctor Who (2015) Christmas Special 2010) and on at least one occasion the repaired it for him ("The Eleventh Hour"  (Doctor Who (2015) series 5)). She built her current version in "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" (Doctor Who (2015) series 11).

This episode...
Artron Energy
  • [OLD] Radiation associate with time travel.  Coordinator Engin stated that the Fourth Doctor must have a lot of stored artron energy to survive the near fatal attacks in the matrix in "The Deadly Assassin" (Doctor Who (1963) season 14).  The Fifth Doctor claimed there was a connection between artron energy and the TARDIS ("Four to Doomsday" (Doctor Who (1963) season 19)).  Rose's artron energy revived the dalek in "Dalek" (Doctor Who (2005) series 1) and Mickey's opened the Genesis Ark in "Doomsday" (Doctor Who Series 2).  In "Invasion of the Bane" (The Sarah Jane Adventures New Year's Day Special 2007) the Wormwood noted that Sarah Jane had traveled through the time vortex because of her artron energy signature (She was last shown to have time traveled in "The Five Doctors" (Doctor Who (1963) 25th Aniversary Special) 19 years earlier.)

Various Items
  • [1ST] First appearances of these items.

Temporal Displacement Weapon
  • [1ST] First appearances of these weapon.

Vortex Manipulator
  • [NEW] A time travel device that the Doctor describes as "cheap and nasty." Used by Jack Harkness in "The Empty Child" (Doctor Who (2005) series 1) and later episodes, and by River Song in "The Pandorica Opens" (Doctor Who (2005) series 5). From time to time the Doctor would use theirs when needed.

Stormcage
  • [NEW] The prison facility that River Song was held in in "The Pandorica Opens" (Doctor Who (2005) series 5) and later episodes. River was held in it in the 53rd Century, this episode suggests it is still in use in the 79th Century.

Neural Inhibitor
  • [1ST] The first mention of one of these.
