SJA 1-10: The Lost Boy Part Two

A Guide to Classic Who references (and other references) The Sarah Jane Adventure episodes.

Sarah Jane Adventures series 1 episode 10 (Story 6 part 2):  Sarah Jane and friends fight the evil Mr Smith.

Warning: May contain Spoilers for

"The Lost Boy Part Two"

Viewing Order:

References:

[OLD] - Things that first appeared in the classic series of Doctor Who (or the film.)  Episode List.

For context, the following are also covered:
[1ST] -  The first appearance of things in Doctor Who and related shows.
[NEW] - Things that first appeared previously in the new series of Doctor Who.
[SJA] - Things that first appeared in Sarah Jane Adventures.
[OTH] - Things that first appeared in other Doctor Who material.
[REAL] - Things that first appeared in reality.

Ongoing References:

  • [SJA]  Sonic Lipstick - Sarah Jane's Sonic Lipstick, obviously based on the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver.  Like the Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver it doesn't work on Deadlock Seals.  The source of Sarah Jane's scanner watch isn't given on-screen, but other material states the Doctor left it inside K9 for her.

  • [NEW] The Slitheen (Raxacoricofallapatorians) - This race first appeared in the Doctor Who episodes "Aliens of London"/"World War Three" and one member later appeared in "Boomtown."  All the ones we've seen have been from the Slitheen which is why they are usually called "The Slitheen."  They previously appeared in the The Sarah Jane Adventures episodes "Revenge of the Slitheen" parts one and two.

  • [1ST]  Mr Smith/Xylok - Sarah Jane Smith's alien computer, first seen in "Invasion of the Bane."  It was revealed to be a Xylok for the first time in last episode.

  • [OLD]  K9 - See K9.  This is K9 Mark IV, given to Sarah Jane at the end of "School Reunion."  That he's been fixing CERN's mess for 18 months puts this episode at least that long after episode.

From Part One:

  • [1ST]  Pharos Parascience Institute - First mention of this institute. The Pharos Project, however, appeared in the Fourth Doctor story "Logopolis" as an Earth attempt to contact alien life in the 80s, decades before the Institute opened.  It's not clear if the two are related.

From this episode:

  • [1ST]  Armageddon virus - First mention of this computer virus.

  • [1ST]  Bartleboigle tree - First mention of this alien fauna and its use in corporal punishment.

  • [1ST]  Metrabelan Cosmic Cluster - First menion of this cosmic cluster.
