Ongoing References...
The Doctor
  • [OLD] The main character of Doctor Who, classic series and new. This is the Thirteen Doctor.

The TARDIS
  • [OLD] The Doctor's time and space travel vehicle.  It stands for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space.  Like a lot of the Doctor's race's technology, it is "bigger on the inside."  The Doctor stole her second-hand TARDIS when fleeing her homeworld.  It is an older model ("Type 40") and unreliable, often ending up in the wrong location, and being unable to blend into its environment (a feature TARDISes should have). It's Telepathic Circuits have been used for navigation a number of times ("Good Night" (Doctor Who (2005) 2011 short)"The Name of the Doctor" (Doctor Who (2005) Christmas Special 2013), and "Listen" & "Dark Water" (Doctor Who (2005) Series 8).

    Sonic Screwdriver
    • [OLD] The Doctor's favourite tool: the sonic screwdriver. First shown to be used by the Second Doctor in "Fury of the Deep" (Doctor Who (1963) season 5), it has been used almost constantly since. While it has been destroyed a couple of times and replaced it has been implied to be the same device rebuilt ("Day of the Doctor" (Doctor Who (2015) 50th Anniversary Special). Although Doctor has suggested he initially built it ("The Doctor Dances (Doctor Who (2015) series 1) & "A Christmas Carol"  (Doctor Who (2015) Christmas Special 2010), this is the first time we've seen her build one.  It's been said to be self-repairing "A Christmas Carol"  (Doctor Who (2015) Christmas Special 2010) and on at least one occasion the repaired it for him ("The Eleventh Hour"  (Doctor Who (2015) series 5)). She built her current version in "The Woman Who Fell to Earth" (Doctor Who (2015) series 11).

    This episode...

    Death Eyed Turtle Army
    • [1ST] First mention of these creatures.

    Spatiotemporal Particles
    • [1ST] First mention of these particles.

    Thejarians
    • [1ST] First appearance of these creatures. Although the Doctor has heard of them before, we haven't.

    Cordian Waves
    • [1ST] First mention of these waves.

    Octonic Engine
    • [1ST] First mention of one of these devices.

    Transmat Technology
    • [OLD] Although this is the first mention of a Transmat Doorway or a Transmat Lock (miniature or otherwise), it has previously appeared as a common form of teleportation (and sometimes time travel) used by a number of races and organisations:
      • Humans ("Seeds of Death" (Doctor Who (1963) season 6) (called T-Mat), "The Ark in Space" & Revenge of the Cybermen  (Doctor Who (1963) season 12), "Bad Wolf" (Doctor Who (2005) series 1), "Nightmare in Silver" (Doctor Who (2005) series 7).
      • Time Lords ("The Five Doctors" (Doctor Who (1963) 25th Anniversary Special), although in "Genesis of the Daleks" (Doctor Who (1963) season 12) they say that they've transcended the technology (and can safely intecept those using it.)
      • Mawdryn's race ("Mawdryn Undead" (Doctor Who (1963) season 20).
      • Daleks ("Remembrance of the Daleks" (Doctor Who (1963) season 25), "Journey's End(Doctor Who (2005) series 4).
      • Sontarans ("The Sontaran Stratagem"/"The Poison Sky" (Doctor Who (2005) series 4).
      • The Alliance of Shades ("The Vault of Secrets" (Sarah Jane Adventures series 4)).
